West Pokot farmers urged to plant short-season crops
West Pokot County is facing crop failure and food shortage due to poor rainfall and changing weather patterns, prompting Governor Simon Kachapin to urge farmers to embrace short-season crops that can mature quickly and take advantage of expected El Niño rains. The county is partnering with Kenya Seed Company to provide suitable seed varieties and will distribute maize seeds and perennial tree seedlings to strengthen food production.
