Dutch village faces demolition for offshore wind energy facility
Moerdijk, a 1,150-strong medieval Dutch port village, has been earmarked for possible eradication to make way for a facility receiving electricity from offshore wind farms to power the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp more sustainably. Residents, many with multigenerational ties to the hamlet, have protested with banners and expressed anger and mistrust toward the government over the proposal.
