Dangote-backed Lamu refinery construction to start October 2026
Aliko Dangote announced that construction of the proposed Lamu oil refinery will begin by October 2026, with the project's estimated cost revised downward by Ksh2 billion. The refinery is expected to serve Kenya and other East African countries, with a processing capacity of 700,000 barrels of crude oil per day and a completion timeline of less than four years once construction begins.
