The centre, the first of its kind in Africa, will provide research, training, capacity building and technical support to anti-corruption agencies across the continent.
EACC Chairperson David Oginde warned that corruption has grown more sophisticated with new technology, and called on anti-corruption agencies to deepen regional cooperation and modernise their tools, including blockchain and artificial intelligence. The EACC hosted the 43rd Heads of the African Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities summit in Nairobi and launched Africa's first Anti-Corruption Research Centre.
Senior anti-graft officials from across Africa met in Nairobi for the 8th Annual General Assembly of the Association of African Anti-Corruption Authorities, with the EACC warning that corruption is becoming increasingly sophisticated and technology-driven, and urging collective continental action to strengthen cooperation and asset recovery.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has recovered approximately 18 acres of Karura Forest that had been illegally allocated to private developers and reclaimed through court process.
