KHRC to sue UDA over Ksh69 million unpaid PAYE tax

The Kenya Human Rights Commission says it will take legal action against the United Democratic Alliance over alleged tax evasion and misuse of public funds. According to the KHRC, an Auditor-General's report found that UDA paid over Ksh128 million in net salaries but failed to deduct and remit Ksh69 million in PAYE tax for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 financial years, and also failed to pay other statutory deductions.

  1. Man charged with attempting to extort KWS director

    Francis Awino Onyango, 40, has been charged with attempted extortion by threats after allegedly threatening to file a petition for the removal of Kenya Wildlife Service Director General Erastus Kanga over constitutional violations in a bid to obtain Ksh1.7 million. The defendant denied the charge and was granted pre-trial mention on May 7, 2026.

  2. Two arrested in Nairobi land fraud cases worth Ksh.160M

    Detectives arrested a 60-year-old man accused of fraudulently procuring land titles for three prime plots in Muthaiga valued at approximately Ksh.45 million each, and a director of Skyline Works Ltd charged with making false documents to unlawfully acquire a parcel worth Ksh.25 million in Eastleigh. Both suspects face charges and are in custody pending arraignment.
