Kenya's Principal Secretary for Sports says the country is ready to host the 2029 or 2031 World Athletics Championships in Nairobi, which would make Kenya the first African country to host the event. Kenya's Competition Authority has approved Japanese brewer Asahi Group Holdings' acquisition of Diageo's controlling stake in East African Breweries, subject to conditions including that the merged entity reserve sufficient funds for liabilities and that at least 20 per cent of retail refrigeration space be reserved for non-EABL or non-Asahi branded products.

African Swine Fever has killed 1,470 pigs on more than 20 farms in Kiambu County since mid-May, and the government has confirmed outbreaks in Tharaka-Nithi, Busia, Embu, Kakamega, Homa Bay and Migori counties. The disease has no vaccine or cure and kills nearly every infected pig, disrupting pork supply and threatening the wider livestock trade.
