Magadi residents face water and healthcare crisis after mining suspension
The Ministry of Mining ordered the immediate suspension of operations at Tata Chemicals Magadi Limited due to unresolved compliance issues, cutting access to water, healthcare, education and livelihoods that the company had supplied to Magadi Ward for decades. Residents fear the disruption puts people and livestock at risk in an area with no reliable boreholes or rivers, and the company has signalled plans to cease services at Magadi Hospital, the only Level Four facility in the ward.
