Kanja orders police interdiction pending custody death investigations
Kenya's Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has ordered the immediate interdiction of officers on duty whenever a suspect dies in police custody, pending investigations. The directive applies to the Occurrence Book recorder, cell sentry, and duty officer, and follows the death of Gideon Makau at Kilungu Police Station in Makueni County.
